I don't know how that Asher T Deluxe got in the picture but you can guess how it became part of my collection. What does that mean? When were they made? The good folks at Fender compiled a list to guide us in the general build dates of these cool instruments. That is the third Orange Tabby I have lived with named Sherman and anyone who has ever talked to me about guitars quickly learns that I have a collection of red "E series" Made in Japan Fender Telecasters. About his beloved Telecaster, Jimmy said it best: “I really made it my own – it’s quite a magical guitar.Take a look at the picture taken in my sauna and you will notice I am a creature of habit. Other features include a bone nut, vintage-style tuning machines and disc string tree for an authentic style and performance.Ĭreated alongside Page himself, the Jimmy Page Telecaster also boasts personalized touches like a Jimmy Page signature on the headstock and on the custom chrome neck plate, a red coiled cable and a vintage-style “stained glass” strap. The “top-loader” bridge allows for through-body or top-load stringing, which produces a rounder, warmer tone and less tension so you can bend the strings with ease. The custom "Oval-C"-shaped maple neck has a 7.25”-radius slab rosewood fingerboard with 21 vintage-style frets, giving it a smooth playing feel. A pair of Fender® Jimmy Page Custom Tele® single-coil pickups deliver the incendiary, full-bodied tone that inspired the unforgettable licks on Led Zeppelin’s first album. The Jimmy Page Telecaster features a two-piece ash body stripped and hand-painted with Page’s original design – colorful curls of green, orange, yellow, blue and red that snake around the guitar in a serpentine fashion. The Fender Jimmy Page Telecaster is an homage to that guitar, which began life in its factory White Blonde lacquer finish, then became the “mirror guitar” before taking on its final form – a magical one-of-a-kind instrument, hand-painted by Page himself, that would go on to produce some of the most iconic riffs of the 20 th Century. In that moment Jimmy Page cemented his legacy and altered the course of popular music with a single guitar: his Fender Telecaster. When the opening riff of “Good Times Bad Times” came through the radio in 1969, everything changed.
